On May 1st in France, lily of the valley is offered as a gift. Three sprigs bring luck. Muguet Fleuri is an entire bouquet — green, fresh, delicate, like a promise of spring.
Since 1561 — the year King Charles IX offered a sprig as a good-luck charm — lily of the valley has been the flower of May 1st in France. Its white bells, of a waxy, sweet freshness, are among the most difficult scents to reproduce in perfumery: lily of the valley does not yield its essence through traditional extraction methods. It takes all the perfumer’s art to recreate this springtime miracle.
Muguet Fleuri rises to the challenge with brio. The opening is resolutely green: fresh foliage, wild grasses and wild lily of the valley compose a trio of immediate vivacity, like a walk through April woodland. The heart deepens the portrait: galbanum adds its resinous greenness, angelica its herbaceous facet, violet leaves their powdery freshness, and woodland lily of the valley — more intimate, more discreet than its garden cousin — unfolds at last in all its grace. The base pairs a final facet of lily of the valley with oakmoss and meadow lily, in a green-woody accord of natural elegance.
