A dandy fragrance very fashionable at the end of the 19th century, the "Fougère" accord by SCOTCH LAVANDER warms the aromatic and fresh notes of Scottish lavender by associating benzoin and amber for an elegant and timeless composition.
Provence’s lavender is famous; Scotland’s is legendary. More camphoraceous, more aromatic, more rugged than its southern cousin, Highland lavender grows on barren lands lashed by North Sea winds — and it is precisely this ruggedness that makes its nobility.
In 1884, Oriza L. Legrand captured this northern lavender in a composition that remains, nearly one hundred and forty years later, one of the Maison’s pillars. The opening is frank and vibrant — citrusy bergamot, crystalline fine lavender, thyme crushed between the fingers — like the brisk air of a morning on the moors. The heart softens around geranium, lavender absolute and earthy vetiver, gaining in roundness and warmth. The base is a marvel of masculine gentleness: tonka bean, golden benzoin and warm amber compose an enveloping, almost tactile accord, like tweed laid upon the heather.
This is the gentleman’s lavender — that of Victorian barbershops, London clubs and misty mornings on the moor.
